Privacy Policy

The short version

Your files are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored by GIF Den. We cannot see them. This is enforced by the site's architecture and security headers, not just promised — verify it yourself.

Files you convert

All conversion (video→GIF, resizing, compression, GIF→MP4) happens locally on your device using your browser's built-in capabilities. No file content, filename, or metadata is sent to us or any third party. Files exist only in your browser's memory during processing and are gone when you close the tab.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-preserving analytics tool. It counts page views and basic browser/country aggregates without cookies, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking, and does not identify you. We see numbers like "X people visited /gif-compressor", never who they were.

Pro purchases

Pro is sold through Gumroad, who act as the merchant of record. Gumroad handles payment and gives you a license key; their privacy policy governs that transaction. When you activate Pro, your browser sends the license key (and nothing else) to Gumroad's API for verification. We do not run user accounts or store buyer data on any server — your activation state lives in your own browser's localStorage.

Local storage

We use your browser's localStorage for: Pro activation state, and saved presets (Pro). This data stays on your device. Clearing site data removes it.

Compatibility engine

For videos your browser can't decode natively, an optional WebAssembly decoder (ffmpeg.wasm) is downloaded once from the jsDelivr CDN. This downloads software to your device; it does not send your files anywhere.

Advertising

Tool pages carry no advertising. If we ever place ads on guide articles, they will require consent where the law demands it, and this policy will be updated first.
